NEC confirmed that James Odoch will serve as interim head coach while the matter is being resolved.

Mbalangu’s suspension comes amid a slow start to the new season for NEC, last season’s runners-up, who currently sit 11th on the table with two points from their opening two matches.

The team has drawn both games, including a 2-2 result against Police, where they let slip a two-goal lead.

NEC’s next league match is away to Entebbe UPPC at Bugonga Fisheries Ground on Saturday, 25 October, with Odoch expected to lead the team from the dugout.
